Dear Colleagues, dear Friends
On behalf of the organising committee it is our great pleasure to invite and welcome you to the 21st Annual Meeting and Postgraduate Course of the European Society of Head and Neck Radiology (ESHNR) and to the 94th Postgraduate Course of the Swiss Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (SSORL) in Geneva.
This joint meeting of our two societies will be a blend of tradition and new features. The scientific programme includes a wide range of workshops, state of the art lectures and original contributions. Experts in the field of radiology, head and neck surgery, otorhinolaryngology and radiation oncology will present topics of interest to our both societies, followed by panel discussions. Original contributions will bring insights into new developments in the field of head and neck radiology and scientific exhibits will discuss a variety of topics in depth. New features of the ESHNR programme include lunch symposia organised in collaboration with industry, the junior radiologist film reading panel and the case of the day competition.
Geneva is easily accessible by air from all major European cities, and there are interesting low-budget connections with several destinations. Access is also easy by rail or car. The congress venue is the Centre International de Conférences Genève (CICG) situated close to the United Nations building, on the northern side of lake Geneva. There are nearby parking facilities, and free tickets for public transportation to the venue and throughout the city during the meeting may be obtained upon check-in at your hotel. The choice of accomodation includes hotels of all categories and, in addition, budget rooms can be reserved at the University campus.
The social evening on Friday, November 7, will give you the opportunity to spend a cultural evening with your colleagues and friends in the historic centre of Geneva, beginning with an organ recital by Jacques Delor in the Cathedral St Pierre, followed by a gala dinner at the Four Season's Hotel Des Bergues, one of the finest in Geneva.
Besides this joint meeting, the city of Geneva with its lake and nearby mountains is also worth a visit. Important ideas and movements have originated here, including those of Jean Calvin, Jean- Jacques Rousseau and Henri Dunant. Today, Geneva is host to many international scientific, humanitarian and economical institutions and to the United Nations. Many of these facilities are open to the public.
We are confident that this meeting in Geneva will exceed your expectations, offering an exciting scientific and teaching event as well as an enjoyable social and cultural experience.
See you in Geneva in 2008!
